NQ QWRAP represents five member-councils including Burdekin Shire Council, Charters Towers Regional Council, Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council and Townsville City Council.
The role of NQ QWRAP is to foster cooperation and resource sharing between Councils and effectively advocate for regional positions and priorities. This is achieved through ongoing collaboration and advocacy and by working closely with regional partners and stakeholders.
As a fairly new region, the North Queensland region kicked off with a number of projects including the development of an asset code for donated assets across the region, an Operator Training Day in Townsville, a research partnership on treatment options for biosolids in partnership with James Cook University and regional training cohorts.
