The first QWRAP Alliance to form, the Remote Area Planning and Development (RAPAD) Water and Sewerage Alliance is located in Central Western Queensland and comprises of Barcaldine Regional Council, Barcoo Shire Council, Blackall-Tambo Regional Council, Diamantina Shire Council, Longreach Regional Council and Winton Shire Council.
RAPAD is the glue that binds the collective effort of local government representatives to drive regionally focused progress in Central West Queensland. RAPAD takes a regional approach while recognising the individuality of each local government, state and federal governments and non-government groups to bridge the gaps between opportunity, action and growth.
The RAPAD group’s regional maturity have led to a great understanding of joint procurement and resource sharing, with many routine maintenance tasks now being completed as an alliance.
Examples of joint activities include reservoir cleaning, water mains air scouring, sewer CCTV and relining, infrastructure cliff reporting and operator training.
